Police personnel from Dakoha Chowki that falls under the Rama Mandi police jurisdiction challaned a limousine, adorning with flowers and heading for a wedding venue. It was challaned for black-tinted windows. The vehicle was intercepted near Kaki Pind Gurdwara Sahib, where it was being taken to pick up the groom.

Sub-Inspector Narinder Mohan, in charge of the Dakoha outpost, led the checking operation. He confirmed that all windows of the limousine were covered with black film, which is prohibited. The car was stopped as it passed through the checkpoint and, upon inspection, no valid documents permitting the modification were presented.

At the time of the challan, only the driver was present in the car. “When questioned about the tinted windows, the driver could not provide a satisfactory explanation. The limousine was reportedly on its way to Jandu Singha when it was stopped, Mohan said, adding that as per the violation, the RTO would fine the owner of the limousine up to Rs 10,000.

The police emphasized that the action was taken in accordance with the law to ensure compliance with traffic and vehicle safety regulations.

3 arrested for farm fires

Phagwara: The Nakodar police have arrested three villagers for burning paddy stubble. One die, another hurt in mishaps

Hoshiarpur: One person was killed and another injured in road accidents on the Hoshiarpur-Phagwara road during the last 24 hours. The police have registered cases. The accused have been identified as Prashant Singh, a resident of Adarsh Colony, Piplanwala, and Sandeep Singh, a resident of Kamalpur. The accused had snatched purses from Deepmala of Ramdas Nagar from Prabhat Chowk and Sunita Agarwal of Ludhiana from Medicine Market. oc

Hoshiarpur: The police have arrested two persons on the charge of smuggling and recovered a large number of narcotic pills from them. The police arrested Radhey Mohan of Boota Mandi, Jalandhar, and Lekhraj, alias Raj, a resident of Begowal and recovered a large quantity of narcotic pills from them. Cases have been registered against the accused under the NDPS Act in the respective police stations
