Trupti Mishra, who will be seen in Qayaamat Se Qayaamat Tak, says her character Poornima is all about resilience, grace and strength

What is Qayaamat Se Qayaamat Tak all about?

In the picturesque vistas of Ujjain, Qayaamat Se Qayaamat Tak unfolds an extraordinary love story based on reincarnation. It follows Rajneesh, a city-bred medical student, and Poornima, a strong-willed girl from a rural village. Their love, despite their diverse backgrounds, unites them in an unbreakable bond, guided by fate’s hand. The plot thickens with a fatal car accident that poses a threat to their togetherness. The narrative hinges on the question of who survives this tragic event and keeps their love immortalised.

Tell us about your character in the show.

Poornima, the character I am portraying, has resilience, grace and strength. She’s a simple girl from a humble background, her roots firmly grounded in her beliefs. She carries a weight far beyond her years, shouldering the responsibility of caring for an ill mother and a younger sibling while navigating the harsh realities of poverty. Despite the hardships, she stands tall, running a flower shop outside a temple.

What does it feel like to be part of a story inspired by real-life incidents and based on Al Raines’ novel November Rain?

Being part of a story inspired by the novel November Rain is really exciting. The novel has touched many readers with its deep and brilliant storytelling. Being part of real-life stories brings extra responsibility for me to make my portrayal authentic. It’s not just about playing a character; it’s about respecting the experiences of real people who went through those events.

What made you say yes to the show?

I decided to step aboard Qayaamat Se Qayaamat Tak because Poornima’s character felt real and inspiring to me. She’s a simple girl facing tough challenges, yet she remains strong and graceful. Her journey that’s full of struggles and surprises, fascinated me.

How did you prepare for this role?

This character embodies the unsung heroes we often overlook, those who tackle daily challenges to provide for their loved ones. I’ve spent time in small villages, absorbing the atmosphere, observing everyday life, and connecting with individuals whose stories resonate with this character. It’s about capturing the essence of someone who fulfils the responsibility of providing for her family. I read about reincarnation and the script of the show several times to understand how I could enliven Poornima onscreen.

How was your experience shooting in Ujjain?

Ujjain wasn’t just a shooting spot; it became the beating heart of our narrative, lending authenticity to the storyline and making my experience special. The city’s ambience, its streets, and its ancient sites breathed life into our scenes.

The show’s promo has generated a lot of excitement. What was your reaction?

As an actor, there’s nothing quite as rewarding as receiving appreciation from the audience for a project. I was genuinely touched by the staggering number of reshares the teaser garnered and the heartfelt messages from my family and friends. This kind of love inspires me to give all to a project.

How is your equation with your co-actors?

Working alongside immensely talented actors such as Pankaj Berry, Jyoti Gauba, Pallavi Rao and Karamm Rajpal, among others, has truly been an exhilarating and enriching experience. Witnessing their dedication and passion for the project has been nothing short of inspiring, propelling me to bring my best to the table. Karamm is a very supportive co-actor, and we bring out the best in each other.
