Pyaar, it is getting
T-series released a groovy number, Arrey Pyaar Kar Le, from the film Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan. The song, which is the revised version of the popular 80’s track, Pyaar Bina Chain Kaha Re, starring Rishi Kapoor, is bringing back the disco fervour.
The music video features Ayushmann Khurrana, shaking a leg in a pair of shiny bell-bottom pants. He is also joined by his on-screen love interest Jitendra Kumar. The guest appearance of Bappi Lahiri in the music video, featuring also Gajraj Rao and
Neena Gupta in retro look, adds to the charm of the song.
Ayushmann introduces the track as a ‘unisex song’. The jazzy song questions why only Jack and Jill went up the hill but not Jack and Johnny. He, along with Jitendra, declares that no one should judge love.
Out of the many fun sequences, the moment which stands out is when Ayushmann touches Gajraj Rao’s feet and the later blesses him by saying ‘Ayushman Bhava’. Through its choreography, the makers pay the perfect tribute to the 80s’ Bollywood.
The disco song has been penned by Vayu and sung by Bappi Lahiri and Ayushmann Khurrana.
All for the original
It is a very enjoyable song. The music video is hilarious. But I still like the older version with Rishi Kapoor in it better and feel that they should’ve gone for an original rather than a remake.

Setting the right tone
The lines ‘Jack ke saath sirf Jill hi kyu jaati hai hill pe? Jhonny bhi to jaa sakta hai’ sets the tone right from the start. The song calls out society on its reservation towards homosexuality but softens the blow with a happy ending. — Manish Dubey, engineer
Songs should be unisex
I knew I was going to love this song as soon as it was introduced as ‘This is a unisex song’. The song has great choreography and is an easy and effective way to make us realise love is not always heterosexual, so nor should be the songs about love. — Deeksha Singh, student
