Festive season is the one to pause, make time for your loved ones, come together and give your bonds a new lease of life. Diwali fervour has paved way to siblings’ celebrations. On the occasion of Bhai Dooj, celebs share how they celebrate the day.

Source of strength

Jonita Doda finds in her brother Harshdeep not just a brother, but also her closest ally, business partner and biggest supporter. Someone that she can always count on, whether it’s in life or work. “There’s an unspoken understanding between us — we both know we’ll be there for each other no matter what. His presence gives me strength and a sense of security,” says Jonita. She starts the day with aarti and applying a tilak on her brother’s forehead, and prays for his long life. Harsh gives her a gift, which always comes with a personal touch, reminding her of their unique bond. The day usually ends with a family meal — good food, laughter and a lot of childhood memories.

They find their biggest strength in complementing each other, especially when it comes to managing their ventures. “We bring different skills and perspectives to the table — Harsh has a calm and analytical mind, while I bring creativity and spontaneity. This balance allows us to work harmoniously. Plus, the trust we share is rock solid, and that’s the foundation of everything we do together,” she shares.

Bhai Dooj is a perfect reminder for us to pause, celebrate and cherish this journey we’ve shared. At the end of the day, we’re each other’s biggest cheerleaders and that’s what matters the most. - Jonita Doda

Counting on him

Aayushi and Rohit Bhave

For Aakhri Dastak actress Aayushi Bhave and her brother Rohit, both Rakhi and Bhai Dooj are celebrated at their mama’s place. All the cousins meet and enjoy together. “My generation and my mother’s generation all come together on this special festival,” shares Ayushi. “My nani ji cooks amazing lunch for all of us. It is our very special, core childhood memory,” she shares. A surprise lunch date with her brother to a particular restaurant that he wanted to go for a long time is on the cards this year!

Siblings are the only people who witness your life closely. We might try to hide a few things from our elders, but with a sibling it’s like ‘us versus the world’. I can always count on my brother. - Aayushi Bhave

Lasting memories

Neha Rana and Abhijit

Megha Barsenge actress Neha Rana and her cousin brother Abhijit make sure they spend quality time enjoying each other’s company, while also exchanging gifts as a token of love. “Celebrating Bhai Dooj gives me a sense of joy and connection. It’s a special time to strengthen family bonds and create lasting memories.” Neha recalls the times when she would be snatching the TV remote during movie nights the most! “I miss those days and now we are cities apart,” she says.

A unique aspect of my bond with my cousin brother is the blend of friendship and family. We can relate to each other not just as relatives, but as friends who understand each other’s quirks and personalities. -  Neha Rana

Little angel

Brinda Dahal and Vigyaan

Chhathi Maiyya Ki Bitiya actress Brinda Dahal and her brother Vigyaan celebrate Bhai Dooj traditionally. “In Nepal, much like India, there’s a tradition where we worship our brothers. We sprinkle water on them and apply a colourful tikka on their foreheads. It’s a fun celebration and brothers often give us gifts,” shares Brinda. Her brother is much younger to her, but has added a playful side to their bond. “Childish behaviour can sometimes be positive because it doesn’t always indicate a problem. Our strength lies in the fact that we genuinely care for one another. Even though he is young, he knows how to support and care for me, which is sweet,” she says proudly. This year, Vigyaan is visiting India after one-and-a-half years, and Brinda is really happy. “I’ve missed him a lot, and I’m a bit nervous about how he will feel visiting my set,” she says.

The more we argue, the more our love grows. There’s a significant age difference between us, but that doesn’t change how much I care for him. - Brinda Dahal

Proud of my success

This year due to work commitments, we preponed Bhaiya Dooj to a day prior. Ours is a bond like no other. In a normal get-together, people get a shock seeing us talking and laughing like we do. My brother is my secret admirer and very proud of

my success. - Bhawana Aneja

Traditional fervour

Bhai Dooj is traditional in our household. I don’t eat till I don’t do the tilak ceremony with my brother. I pray for his long and healthy life. - Anupamaa Solanki

Great bonding

Bhai Dooj is fun. All of us cousins gather together, perform rituals and spend rest of the day watching movies, traveling, or going to an amusement park, if it’s planned that way. Sibling bond means sharing small secrets and teasing each other. - Megha Sharma
