Nominations for the 73rd Primetime Emmy Awards 2021 announced
Nominations for the 73rd Primetime Emmy Awards were announced at a virtual ceremony on July 13. The event was hosted by Ron Cephas Jones and his daughter Jasmine Cephas Jones. Leading the lists with 24 nominations are Netflix’s The Crown and Disney+ Hotstar’s The Mandalorian. Marvel spin-off Wandavision has got 23 nods, making it to the top three in the list. Next in the lead with 20 Emmy nominations is the comedy show Ted Lasso.
This year’s Emmy nominations have two Indian connects. Netflix show Indian Matchmaking has bagged a nomination in the Unstructured Reality Program category. It features Sima Taparia, a real-life matchmaker from Mumbai, who finds matches for Indian families across the world. On the other hand, model-turned-TV-host, Padma Lakshmi has got nominated under Outstanding Host for Reality Show for her show Top Chef.
After last year’s virtual show, owing to the Covid-19 pandemic, this year the awards will be hosted for a limited ‘live’ audience of nominees and guests on Sunday, September 19.
