Tell us about your role in Aarya 2.

My role is of a public prosecutor. I am a huge admirer of Ram Madhvani’s work. Aarya Season 1 has been a great watch and I am so excited to be a part of the second season.

How will you define your working experience with Sushmita Sen?

It’s a beautiful experience. The moment she enters the set, she kind of owns the space. The energy she carries, on and offscreen, is very infectious. During our first workshop with her, I was very nervous but she made it so simple. She lets you shine and lets you do your things.

Talking about your journey in the industry, how did you enter the world of acting?

I am an electronics engineer and have also worked in a reputed firm for 4 years. Before pursuing engineering, I started working in a play called I Am Not Bajirao and that’s how my interest developed.

Was it easy or difficult for you to make your space in the industry?

I must say I have been lucky to get so much good work. I have worked with directors like Ashutosh Gowarikar in Jodha Akbar, Hansal Mehta in Aligarh and Madhur Bhandarkar in Heroine. And this year has been a good one as I have worked in four web series back-to-back.

Who do you look up to when it comes to acting?

I have studied drama from Trinity College of London. It was an 8-year long course. That helped me a lot. And whenever I work on any project I learn from my directors and my co- actors. I have done more than 50 plays and 2,000 shows. That has been a great learning experience. I can’t name one specific person.

What are your unfulfilled desires asan artiste now?

I still feel that I have not explored much. I really want directors to cast me and extract my talent.

How do you keep yourself happy and motivated?

I do a lot of meditation and vipassana. I am not scared to say that I have taken therapy for something which I needed to. Happiness to me is seeing an ice-cream shop and having that ice-cream. Covid-19 has changed a lot of things, especially how you see your life.

What social cause do you want to take up in future?

Women’s rights. I am a part of the famous play, The Vagina Monologues, which is directed by Mahabanoo Mody-Kotwal. Before Covid, we used to keep shows in Hindi for the women in slums. The experience was very close to my heart.
