Leh DC evaluates panchayats for national awards nomination
Leh Deputy Commissioner Santosh Sukhadeve convened a meeting of District Level Panchayat Performance Assessment Committee to evaluate the progress of identification of panchayats according to nine Localization of Sustainable Development Goals (LSDGs) theme for National Panchayat Awards, on Thursday.
During the meeting, District Panchayat Officer (DPO) Junaid Amin briefed about the identification of panchayats according to nine LSDGs theme at panchayat level, which were verified and submitted at block level and later at district level. He added that the last date to submit the final selected panchayats at UT level is September 10th.
The DC directed the concern departments to identify the best panchayats according to the questionnaires filled by the gram panchayats and themes related to their departments such as healthy panchayat will be assessed by the Health Department, child friendly panchayat will be assessed by ICDS and so on and submit the final selected panchayats without any delay.
“Union Ministry of Panchayati Raj has been incentivising best performing panchayats through National Panchayat Awards. Primary objective through this competition is to assess the performance of panchayats in attainment of Sustainable Development Goals. Awards at national level will be given to gram, block and district panchayats under different themes,” an official said.
