Legal aid camp held at Beolia govt school
The School of Legal Studies and Research at APG Shimla University recently organised a legal aid camp at Government Senior Secondary School, Beolia.
During the camp, students from the Department of Legal Studies and Research performed a play on domestic violence and property rights, leaving a profound impact on the audience.
The students presented a powerful street play on the theme “Domestic Violence and Property Rights”.
Surjeet Singh, a fifth-year BA-LLB student, delivered an informative session on children’s legal rights.
Assistant Chief Judicial Magistrate Neha Sharma was the chief guest at the event.
She provided detailed insights into the legal aid process and emphasised the need to spread awareness about legal rights. She said, “Today’s youth are the harbingers of change in society, and their knowledge of legal rights can lead to the establishment of justice in society.”
Dr Amandeep Kaur, associate dean, School of Legal Studies and Research, APG Shimla University, said: “Our goal is to take legal awareness to every individual. Such activities not only raise awareness among youth but also instil a sense of responsibility.”
At the conclusion of the programme, school principal Nisha Bhalluni expressed her gratitude to the university.
She said, “This camp was an inspiring experience for the students. The knowledge about legal rights and social issues has made students more conscious of their duties and rights.”
School of Journalism head Dr Ashwani Sharma and other faculty members from the Department of Legal Studies were among those present at the event.
