Leaders in central Kashmir make beeline to file nominations for Phase 2
Districts in central Kashmir wore a festive look on Wednesday as several political leaders made a beeline to the electoral offices to file nomination for the second phase of the Assembly elections.
Thursday is the last date for submitting nomination papers for the second phase, for which voting will take place on September 25. On Wednesday, among the key candidates who filed the nomination papers included Apni Party Chief Altaf Bukhari who filed his nomination from Lal Chowk assembly seat. Top leaders of People’s Democratic Party and National conference also filed the nominations.
Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party (JKPDP) candidate from Hazratbal constituency Asiya Naqash filed his papers. Another PDP candidate Muhammad Khurshid Alam also filed his nomination papers. Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) candidate from Zadibal constituency Tanvir Sadiq and NC candidate from Khanyar Assembly constituency Ali Mohammad Sagar also filed their nominations. Faheem Reshi, Independent candidate contesting from Eidgah Assembly constituency also filed his nomination papers in Srinagar.
A BJP spokesperson said BJP candidates from Central Kashmir officially filed their nomination papers on Wednesday, “marking a vital step in the party’s strong campaign for the region.” Er Aijaz Hussain, BJP candidate from Lal Chowk constituency, filed his in Srinagar. The spokesperson said Ashok Bhat filed his nomination from the Habbakdal constituency in Srinagar. He was accompanied by Union Minister Jitender Singh and BJP state president Tarun Chugh. In the Lal Chowk constituency. The party said Arif Raja filed his nomination from the Eidgah constituency. He was joined by former MLC Charanjit Singh Khalsa , showcasing the party’s collective stability and unity as it heads into the election.
