Law & order major poll issue in Bahadurgarh
The law and order has emerged as one of the major poll issues in Bahadurgarh Assembly constituency, which witnessed a broad daylight murder of INLD state chief and two-time former MLA Nafe Singh Rathee and some other cases of extortion threats in the recent past. All candidates in the fray are flagging the issue prominently during their election campaign.
The INLD has fielded Rathee’s wife Sheela Rathee from here this time, who is trying to strike an emotional chord with the electorate by describing the election as a fight for justice.
Yet to get justice

“The poor law and order in Bahadurgarh town during the BJP government has snatched my husband who dedicated his entire life for social service and for development of Bahadurgarh. He was gunned down around seven months ago but we have not yet got justice as the main culprits are yet to be arrested,” Sheela said while addressing a poll meeting in Bahadurgarh located on the border of Haryana and Delhi.
Rathee (66), a well-known figure in the state politics, was gunned down at Barahi level-crossing in Bahadurgarh town when he was returning home in his SUV on February 25. The case is currently being probed by the CBI.
“The crime graph has risen considerably in Bahadurgarh in the past several years. Traders are being targeted for extortion. The broad daylight murder of Nafe Singh Rathee has created a sense of insecurity among residents,” said Pradeep, a local resident.
