Aimed at strengthening telecommunication infrastructure, the BSNL has initiated efforts to introduce 4G services in the remote Miyar valley of tribal Lahaul-Spiti district. When introduced, the move will solve the long-standing connectivity problems faced by residents and students in the region.

The residents of Lahaul-Spiti, known for its breathtaking landscapes and challenging terrain, have often struggled with inadequate communication facilities. This has hindered students’’ access to online education and made it difficult for residents to stay connected with their families outside the valley during crucial times.

Acknowledging these issues, Lahaul-Spiti MLA Anuradha Rana emphasised the urgency of addressing the communication deficit issue in the Miyar valley. She said that the BSNL had started laying the optical fibre cable, which is crucial for enabling high-speed Internet services. Efforts were underway to erect BSNL towers strategically across the valley to ensure comprehensive coverage.

“It is expected that within two months, Miyar valley will be seamlessly integrated with BSNL’s 4G network,” said Anuradha Rana, highlighting the imminent benefits this development will bring to local residents.

Once operational, the 4G connectivity promises to significantly enhance accessibility to educational resources for students and facilitate smoother communication for the valley’s inhabitants.

The local community has viewed the initiative as a transformative step towards bridging the digital divide. Residents expressed relief at the prospect of reliable connectivity, which will enable them to stay connected with the outside world and access essential services conveniently.

As the implementation progresses, stakeholders are anticipating its positive impact on education, healthcare and socio-economic opportunities in Miyar valley. The impending introduction of 4G services by BSNL marks a pivotal moment in the region’s journey towards comprehensive connectivity and digital empowerment.
