L-G Sinha reviews development works

Lt-Governor(L-G) Manoj Sinha today while reviewing the developmental scenario in the Baramulla district approved 21-crore funding under the Jammu and Kashmir Infrastructure Development Finance Corporation (JKIDFC) for completing Jetty Bridge awaiting completion for 22 years. He directed that the project be completed within two years.
While interacting with scores of deputations at the district headquarters, the L-G took cognisance of the demands related to various works of immediate public utility and announced Rs 50 lakh as the first installment for the untied grant to all Deputy Commissioners across J&K for taking up the same on a priority and to accentuate the overall developmental ecosystem in the UT, an official spokesman said.
The L-G during the visit took a comprehensive assessment of the development scenario and other important local issues. At the outset, he inspected Government Medical College, Baramulla, and took the first-hand appraisal of the pace of the construction work. He was informed that the college was being developed at an estimated cost of Rs 139 crore and would be completed by July 2021. He directed the agencies concerned to expedite the pace of work so that it was completed within the stipulated time frame.
During the development review meeting, Dr GN Itoo, Deputy Commissioner, Baramulla, gave a detailed presentation of various ongoing development works being executed by different departments in the district.
Taking serious note of the inadvertent delays in the issuance of domicile certificates, the L-G directed the officers to ensure seamless issuance of domicile certificates for PRC holders without requiring additional documents and simplifying the issuance process for the people applying under other categories.
