Kurukshetra University embraced Digital India mission: Vice-Chancellor
Kurukshetra, July 12
Kurukshetra University Vice-Chancellor Som Nath Sachdeva said the Integrated University Management System (IUMS) played a trailblazing role in the automation and digitalisation of the university’s records.
The VC said the KU had embraced the Digital India mission and adopted the online portal, which is being implemented across the university in a phased manner. The IUMS portal is the all-encompassing repository for the data of all students and employees of the university. He said it would benefit all stakeholders.
Public Relations Deputy Director Jimmy Sharma said through the IUMS portal, one could access information about the admissions process, transcripts, mark sheets, records of employees and the institute, among others. He said the portal also provided necessary online services related to finance or examinations. He said the portal would help speed up the university’s functioning and bring more transparency to examinations, accounts, e-filing systems and other departmental work.
In this academic session, 18,379 students took advantage of the facility for admissions in the University Teaching Department (UTD) and 7,876 students for admission in the Institute of Integrated and Honour Studies (IIHS). In the previous session, 67,000 students took advantage of the facility for private admissions and around 17,000 for distance education.
Dr Sharma also said teaching and non-teaching staff were being recruited through the portal. Additionally, the IUMS alumni portal is a comprehensive resource that contains information about the university’s alumni.
