A descendant of the erstwhile royal family, Aditya Vikram Singh, son of former minister Karan Singh, registered a complaint with the police that some unknown person on Sunday afternoon decamped with silver items and utensils worth around Rs 8 lakh from his house at Sultanpur in Kullu town. The police have registered a case under Sections 305 and 331(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

The seven-day Kullu Dasehra festivities commenced on Sunday and family members were engaged in the activities as the family plays a key role in various rituals and traditions of Dasehra here. The temple of chief deity Lord Raghunath is also located in Sultanpur.

Though around 1,360 police personnel have been deputed and the town has been divided into 13 sectors by the police for the festival, theft in the premises of the royal family has raised a question mark on the security.
