Khelo India Ladakh Winter Games start today

The first Khelo India Ladakh Winter Games will start tomorrow at Nawang Dorjey Stobdan (NDS) Sports Complex with the inaugural exhibition ice hockey match between Ladakh Scout Regimental Centre Red and the ITBP.
Union Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju will inaugurate the event in the presence of Lieutenant-Governor of UT Ladakh Radha Krishna Mathur, Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC, Leh, Gyal P Wangyal.
Over 1,700 ice hockey players, figure skating and speed skaters from Leh and Kargil districts will participate in the games.
An official in the Deputy Commissioner, Leh office, said the competition was being held at the block, district and Union Territory level.
Chief Executive Councillor of the LAHDC, Leh, Gyal P Wangyal, has inspected NDS Sports Complex and reviewed the arrangements of the event.
Secretary Youth Services and Sports UT Ladakh Divisional Commissioner Ladakh Saugat Biswas, Director Department of Sports, Government of India, Vimal Anand, Deputy Commissioner, Leh, Sachin Kumar, and officials concerned of the District Youth Services and Sports and engineers were present during the inspection.
