Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan: Kunwarpreet, Prabhjot pedal to glory
Kunwarpreet Singh of Ludhiana and Prabhjot Kaur of Patiala proved too good for their opponents as they emerged victorious in 200m sprint in the boys and girls U-17 category, respectively, in track cycling competition in the ongoing 3rd state-level Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan here today.
The event is being organised by the Punjab Sports Department with the help of the district administration at the Punjab Agricultural University velodrome.
Karmanpreet Singh and Ekamjit Singh, both from Patiala, bagged second and third positions, respectively, in the boys’ category, while Preeti from Ludhiana stood second and Guntas Sandhu from Patiala won third spot in the girls’ category.
In 200m sprint for U-21 boys, Tanvir Singh (Amritsar), Arshdeep Singh (Amritsar) and Harmanpreet Singh (Ludhiana) secured top three positions, respectively, while Yadvi from Ludhiana, Manrojdeep Kaur of Amritsar and Kritika of Ludhiana bagged top three positions respectively, in the girls’ U-21 category.
DSO Kuldeep Chugh inaugurated the track events. Coaches Satvinder Vicky, Sanjiv Sharma, Parveen Thakur and Prem Singh among other were also present at the opening function.

Keirin race (women 21-30 yrs): Harpreet Kaur (Patiala) 1st, Vidhi Tejpal (Ludhiana) 2nd and Rajvir Kaur (Tarn Taran) 3rd; women 31-40 years- Sukhpal Kaur (Bathinda) 1st, Priyanka (Amritsar) 2nd and Pushpinder Kaur (Patiala) 3rd.
Keirin race (men 31-40 yrs): Satvir Singh (Amritsar) 1st, Gurbaj Singh (Gurdaspur) 2nd and Khushvinder Singh (Amritsar) 3rd.
200m sprint (men 31-40 yrs): Gurbaj Singh (Gurdaspur) 1st, Satvir Singh (Amritsar) 2nd and Khushvinder Singh (Amritsar) 3rd.
200m sprint (women 31-40 yrs): Priyanka (Amritsar) 1st, Pushpinder Kaur (Patiala) 2nd and Sukhpal Kaur (Bathinda) 3rd.
