Raman Singh and Arshdeep Singh, both from Sangrur, proved their mettle by winning the top positions in the 400m hurdles and 1,500m race, respectively, in the boys U-17 category of the ongoing third edition of the state-level Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan, being organised by the Punjab Sports Department in association with the district administration here today.

In 400m hurdles, Barinder Singh of Ludhiana and Manjot Singh of Barnala secured second and third positions, respectively, while in the 1,500m race, Maninder Singh (Sangrur) and Ramandeep Singh of Ferozepur finished first and second runners-up, respectively.

In discus throw (boys U-21), Devansh Jagga of Fazilka clinched the top position and was followed by Tanvir Singh of Jalandhar and Jashan Sandhu of Fazilka at second and third spots. In 400m hurdles, Ankush of Fazilka romped home while Sukhmandeep Singh of Sangrur and Navjot Singh of Mansa contented with the second and third positions, respectively.

In the men’s section (31-40 yrs), Barkinder Singh of Patiala, Gursharan Singh of Mohali and Davinder Singh of Patiala clinched the top three positions in the discus throw event while in the 41-50 years, Joginder Pal Singh of Fatehgarh Sahib came out victorious in 3,000m race. The second and third positions were bagged by Ravi Kumar of Fatehgarh Sahib and Daljeet Singh of Ludhiana.

At Harvest Tennis Academy courts, Jassowal Kular village, in lawn tennis team event (girls U-14), Patiala won the first position while Jalandhar secured the second position and Ludhiana finished at the third place. In the girls U-21 section, Mohali, Kapurthala and Patiala secured the top three positions.

In kick-boxing (boys 21-30 years), Harkaran Singh Sandhu of Ludhiana emerged winner in the light contact event in the below 57kg weight category and Abhijit Singh of Mansa bagged the second position while Navdeep Singh of Ferozepur and Dharminder Kumar of Fazilka shared the third spot.

At Government Girls Senior Secondary Smart School ground, Gill village, in baseball (boys U-14), Ludhiana, Ferozepur and Sangrur secured the first three positions while in the boys U-17 group, Ludhiana came out winners. Sangrur and Ferozepur finished as the first and second runners-up, respectively.
