Khattar pulls up Chandigarh officials for issuing resumption notices
Union Minister of Power and Housing and Urban Affairs Manohar Lal Khattar today pulled up UT officials over resumption notices issues to owners of 1 kanal and above properties over non-installation of rooftop solar power plants.
How could the Estate Office resume property only for non-installation of rooftop solar power plant, he questioned.
Khattar added that residents should be encouraged to install solar power plants instead of issuing notices to resume property, at the most, penalty could be imposed for violating the rules.
In a notice issued on September 6, the UT Estate Office had directed property owners to install the rooftop solar power plant and submit the compliance report. In case of non-receipt of confirmation of compliance within two months, the proceedings shall be initiated against the owner for resumption/cancellation of the site for violation of the provisions of the Chandigarh Estate Rules, 2007, and Chandigarh Building Rules (Urban), 2017.
Nearly 820 property owners had applied before the end of the deadline on November 6, whereas nearly 4,700 had registered for installation of the solar plant.
The notices were issued to the owners of property of 500 square yards or more who had not installed solar systems under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana. Under the scheme, a subsidy up to Rs 78,000 is provided for installation of up to 3KW solar power plant.
