Even four months after the Lok Sabha elections, the influence of former Haryana CM and Union Minister ML Khattar continues to dominate his parliamentary constituency with BJP candidates winning all nine Assembly segments.

The Karnal Lok Sabha constituency comprises nine segments spanning two districts – Karnal and Panipat.

In the 2019 elections, the BJP won five segments - Karnal, Indri, Gharaunda, Panipat Urban and Panipat Rural.

Harvinder Kalyan, BJP candidate from Gharaunda won by 4,531 votes. Kalyan polled 87,236 votes, while Congress candidate Varinder Singh Rathore secured 82,705 votes. Nilokheri candidate Bhagwan Das Kabirpanthi won by 18,845 votes.

BJP candidate Ram Kumar Kashyap won the Indri seat by 15,149 votes. Similarly, BJP candidate from Karnal Jagmohan Anand won the seat by 33,652 votes. BJP’s Yoginder Singh Rana won the Assandh seat by 2,306 votes. Mahipal Dhanda, BJP candidate from Panipat Rural won by 50,212 votes.

Pramod Vij, BJP candidate from Panipat City, won by 35,672 votes. From Israna (reserved) seat, BJP candidate Krishan Lal Panwar won by 13,895 votes defeating Congress candidate Balbir Valmiki. From Samalkha, BJP candidate Manmohan Bhadana won the seat with a margin of 19,315 votes.
