Kharge completes 2 years as Congress chief, Rahul serves him cake
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi led the entire party brass in wishing Mallikarjun Kharge well as the latter completed two years in his position as Congress president.
Kharge replaced Sonia Gandhi two years ago and defeated Shashi Tharoor in an internal party poll where the entire might of Gandhi family backed him.
To celebrate the day, Rahul drove to Kharge's Rajaji Marg house in Lutyens Delhi where the Congress chief cut two cakes for his two years and Rahul was seen in videos serving a piece to Kharge and later to his party colleagues.
Senior leaders Kumari Selja, Ajay Maken, K Raju, Rajiv Shukla, Ramesh Chennithala were all present as the gathering made some happy memories.
The visuals stood in stark contrast to the ones BJP has been sharing -- of Kharge waiting outside a door of the room where Priyanka Vadra filed her nomination for the November 13 Lok Sabha bypoll in Kerala's Wayanad.
The BJP has been amplifying that image to attack Congress as anti-Dalit.
The visuals of celebrations of Kharge's two years as Congress chief also seek to counter the saffron narrative by sending a message -- all is well in the Congress and it respects its president, a veteran leader who hails from the scheduled caste community.
