Kataria to attend MC meeting on Nov 23
Amid financial crisis being faced by the Municipal Corporation (MC), UT Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria has given his consent to attend the General House meeting of the MC on November 23.
The Governor’s approval to attend the meeting was followed by a request made by Mayor Kuldeep Kumar, who met Kataria on Wednesday to discuss the urgent need for financial support. During the meeting, the Mayor pressed his demand for a special grant of Rs 200 crore to the MC, emphasising the importance of resuming stalled development projects across the city.
“We have been requesting the Administrator to release special grant of Rs 200 crore to resume development works. We are working to increase the MC’s revenue, but a special grant is needed to start the development works. I urged the Administrator to attend the House meeting,” he said.
Meanwhile, Kataria today directed the Engineering Department to consider relief to the lower income consumers, while submitting the tariff petition for the next financial year 2025-26 before the Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission (JERC) for approval. Chairing the meeting, Kataria instructed the department to explore ways to reduce the tariff and alleviate the burden of lower income consumers. He directed the department to conduct an energy audit.
