Karnal sugar mill bags first position in country in technical efficiency
Karnal, July 26
The Karnal Cooperative Sugar Mill has achieved the first prize in the country in the technical efficiency category. The award will be given to the mill administration by Union Minister of Home Affairs and Cooperation Amit Shah in August.
The mill is based on modern technology and produces sulphur-free refined sugar, said Gharaunda MLA Harvinder Kalyan, while chairing a felicitation ceremony organised on the mill premises on Thursday.
Congratulating the management, employees and farmers, the MLA said nearly 80 percent of the farmers associated with the mill were from his constituency.
Kalyan said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini’s vision ensured that farmers’ rights were protected.
Kalyan assured sugarcane farmers that they need not worry about the price of their produce. “The BJP government does not make empty promises, it delivers results. Sugarcane prices are the highest in Haryana compared to other states,” he said.
The MLA urged the farmers and the mill administration to prepare a 10-year plan to improve the financial status of the sugar mill so that farmers could also benefit from it. He suggested that the profits should be used to strengthen the mill’s basic needs and to plan the welfare of farmers and sugar mill workers.
Hitendra Sharma, MD of the mill, said that under the CM’s Golden Jubilee project, the expansion of the mill was completed in 2021, increasing its capacity to 3,500 TCD. Besides sugar, the mill’s financial status is being strengthened by producing and selling molasses, electricity, bagasse and other items.
