Karnal STF nabs two for ‘killing’ ASI
Karnal, July 5
The Karnal unit of Special Task Force (STF) today arrested two persons for allegedly killing Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Sanjeev. The arrests were made in Aligarh, and the suspects are being brought to Karnal for further investigation.
The Karnal police had handed over the case to the STF, following which Inspector Deepender Singh, in-charge, STF (Karnal unit), arrested two suspects on Friday late evening.
Inspector Singh has confirmed the arrests, but refused to disclose the suspects’ names and motive. “We have arrested two shooters from Aligarh and will reveal all facts on Saturday,” he said.
According to eyewitnesses, two motorcycle-borne assailants had fired multiple shots at the ASI, following which he was immediately rushed to a private hospital in Karnal. However, he had succumbed to his injuries. ASI Sanjeev was cremated on Thursday.
The Madhuban police had registered an FIR against unidentified persons under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Arms Act.
