Karnal, Sonepat lead in FIRs; 575 fire incidents reported
The Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department of Haryana has registered 15 FIRs against farmers for burning paddy residue, with 307 challans issued to violators, imposing a total penalty of Rs 7,92,500.
According to official data, the highest number of FIRs — nine — has been lodged in Karnal district, followed by six FIRs in Sonepat. No other districts have reported FIRs as of this evening.
Kurukshetra district leads in the number of challans issued to farmers, followed by Kaithal district, which saw 76 challans. The government has recovered Rs 7,80,000 in penalties from farmers. Additionally, fire tenders were deployed at 54 locations to control farm fires. The total number of reported paddy residue burning incidents has reached 575 in the state, with Kaithal district recording the highest number at 97.
