Dharamsala, November 24
The photos of Bollywood actor Kareena Kapoor and her son Taimur Ali Khan learning pottery at Dharamkot Art Studio are doing rounds on Instagram.
Kareena, along with her husband Saif Ali Khan and brother Rajiv Kapoor, is holidaying in Dharamsala these days. They are putting up at Hotel Hyatt.
Sadaiv Ranjan, who runs the art studio, said Kareena and her son came to our studio on November 19 with a prefixed appointment. She spent one hour here and tried her hand at pottery. She also taught pottery to her son Taimur and both made a cup. She learned about black pottery being taught at the studio these days, he said.
Sadaiv said since it was the actor’s private visit to the studio, they did not divulge details to anyone. “After Kareena posted her photos learning pottery in Dharamkot Art Studio today, we are getting calls from various quarters,” he said.
Black pottery is also practised in northeastern regions, but it was once more famous in the state as pine trees are found in abundance here. Sadhaiv says black pottery created by him from natural resources in Kangra can also be used as utensils as it is made from organic material.
Dharamkot is a small village 2 km uphill from McLeodganj, which attracts national and international tourists. It is also called ‘Little Israel’, as a large number of Israeli tourists visit here every year.
