Kanda celebrates BJP win despite his loss
Gopal Kanda, former MLA from Sirsa and president of the Haryana Lokhit Party (HLP), thanked the people of Haryana for helping to create a Congress-free state. Speaking at his office in Hisaria Bazaar, he noted that the electorate had rejected the Congress by re-electing the BJP for the third term.
Kanda expressed gratitude for the 72,000 votes he received in Sirsa, stating that while he lost the election, he felt he had won the community’s support. He criticised the Congress candidate for misleading the voters with claims of a “Congress wave,” insisting that the true actions of each party would be revealed over time.
He praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for their leadership and policies that the public endorsed. Kanda highlighted his efforts in facilitating development projects over the last five years and promised that more would be completed by the new BJP government.
Emphasising his loyalty to the BJP, Kanda claimed there was never a genuine Congress wave in Haryana. He stated that the corrupt Congress regime had left citizens hopeless, which motivated the voters to support the BJP’s majority government.
Kanda also stated that the day the new Chief Minister was sworn in would be celebrated in Sirsa like Diwali, marking a significant occasion for the city. He said any officials involved in election misconduct would be held accountable.
Interestingly, during the elections, Kanda had distanced himself from the BJP, stating he would rely on the support from the INLD and the BSP instead. This stance upset local BJP leaders and may have contributed to his defeat. Now, however, he is praising the BJP and its leadership.
