The training camps at the district level, which started today, will continue till August 24 and at the mandal level on August 25, 26 and 27. Booth-level preparatory meetings for the membership will be held on August 31. The membership will be started on September 1 when the BJP national president JP Nadda makes Prime Minister Narendra Modi first member of the BJP.

Phase-1 of the membership drive will start from September 1 to 25 and the second phase from October 1 to 15. The active membership campaign will be held from October 16 to 31. Any person who makes 100 members and contributes Rs 100 will be eligible for active membership.

State campaign committee in-charge Manoranjan Kalia said, “The total BJP membership in Punjab in 2014 was 23,94,944 and additional membership in 2019 was 5,65,096. The target is 200 members in each booth throughout India. In Punjab, there are over 24,000 booths. The party’s key challenge will be in the rural areas where enrolments will be harder but our members will be going all out to woo new members.”

New ledgers and records will be created and all members will be freshly enrolled.

Kalia said the BJP’s total membership in India in 2014 was 11,06,85,425 and additional membership in 2019 was 6,01,47,832.
