With an aim to make Kaithal a drug-free-district, the police are reaching out to people, motivating them to say no to drugs and instead focus on sports and healthy activities. To promote this initiative in villages, Superintendent of Police (SP) Rajesh Kalia has appointed a team of police officials for organising sports events and activities to engage youth.

As part of this initiative, police personnel visit villages daily, hold awareness camps and interact with people, including youth. They inform residents about the types of drugs and symptoms of addiction. The team also provides guidance on how to recognise and help those struggling with addiction.

SP Kalia appealed to the community to play an active role in keeping their children away from drugs. “Drug abuse destroys families and society. Only through cooperation and unity can we safeguard our youth and build a better future,” he said. He appealed to the public to report drug-related activities to the police, assuring that all reports would be handled with confidentiality.

On Sunday, a team — comprising Sub-Inspector Karmabir Singh, Assistant Sub-Inspector Om Prakash, Head Constable Sunil Kumar, Constable Ritu and Home Guard Shamsher Singh — visited Bata, Titram, Sheru Khedi, Pyoda and Anaj Mandi in Kaithal to encourage people to channel their energy into activities that contribute to national development and highlighted the dangers of drug addiction.
