A student of first year in Jwalaji College, Vanshika defeated her German opponent in the finals. Registering a comprehensive win, she said, “I am thrilled to represent my country and bring glory to my state.”
This talented boxer’s impressive victory in the 80-kg weight category has earned accolades and recognition for the entire state. She is accompanied by her coach Amanpreet from National Boxing Academy (NBA), Rohtak. 18-year-old Vanshika’s achievement is yet to be recognised by the state government.
Vanshika, a brown belt in martial arts, was fond of judo and karate during her school days but on her father’s advice, she chose boxing.
Her father Shashikant, who is a former national player of volleyball, while talking to The Tribune, said, “It is undoubtedly a historic moment. Games not only keep a person fit it, but keep drugs and other vices at bay.”
