As the state went to the polls on Saturday, key issues like unemployment and the delay in paddy procurement dominated discussions at polling booths, with many voters expressing frustration over the state of job opportunities and the ongoing struggles faced by farmers.

These concerns became a focal point at various polling booths. For many youth, unemployment was an issue which influenced their voting decisions. Despite promises of job creation and initiatives like jobs on merit, many young voters feel that the reality is different. “There are not enough jobs for us here, especially for those who have completed higher education,” said Nitish, a young voter in Karnal.
