J&K records 666 fresh COVID-19 cases, nine deaths

With 666 new patients testing positive for COVIDC-19 in Jammu and Kashmir during the past 24 hours, the caseload in the Union territory has reached to 32,647.

Meanwhile, nine deaths — two from Jammu division and seven from Kashmir Valley — were also reported during the same period.

Of the 666 cases reported today, 126 from Jammu division and 540 from Kashmir Valley.

As many as 432 positive patients were also cured and discharged from various hospitals across the Union Territory — 109 patients from Jammu and 325 from Kashmir. With the recent recoveries, the number of recovered patients in the UT has climbed to 24,832.

According to the official bulletin issued on Sunday evening, there are 7,198 were active positive in the Union Territory with 617 deaths reported — 47 in Jammu division and 570 in Kashmir.

The bulletin further read that of the 8,68,594 test results available, 8,35,947 samples have been tested as negative.

Meanwhile, the AIDS Control Society Jammu and Kashmir, in collaboration with Kashmir division’s COVID Control Room, formally launched an intensive sensitisation-cum- awareness campaign for religious leaders and influencers about COVID-19 and the measures to be taken to avoid the spread of the virus.

During the first phase of the programme, held at Anjum Ground, Bemina, members of the Coordination Committees of Mosques, Sectors, Muftis, Moulanas and Mohhala presidents of Srinagar were called in and sensitised about their role in creating awareness among the general public for effective control of the virus.
