J&K, Ladakh get four new NCC units
Lt Gen MV Suchindra Kumar, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, presided over the raising ceremony of four new National Cadet Corps (NCC) units in Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh at Udhampur.
The new units include six J&K Battalion NCC in Udhampur, one Air Squadron NCC in Udhampur, seven J&K Battalion NCC in Kupwara, and two Ladakh Battalion NCC in Kargil.
During the ceremony, NCC cadets presented an impressive guard of honour, and scrolls symbolising honour and responsibility were handed over to the newly raised units. The event was attended by various dignitaries, including Ghulam Nabi Bhat, Additional Secretary School Education; Garib Dass, Director of the Police Academy; and Saloni Rai, DC Udhampur.
Addressing the gathering, the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief emphasised the strategic importance of the expansion, underscoring the NCC’s role in fostering national integration and instilling discipline among youth. He remarked, “The training and discipline provided by the NCC are instrumental in shaping the youth, offering them an opportunity to engage in national service and cultivate proactive citizenship.”
Lt Gen Suchindra Kumar expressed that the expansion of the NCC represents a vision for a stronger, more unified India.
