Jharkhand MLAs case: West Bengal CID alleges Delhi Police obstructed it in executing search warrant
New Delhi, August 3
In another case of confrontation between police forces of two states, West Bengal CID on Wednesday alleged that the Delhi Police have prevented them from doing its lawful duty in executing a search warrant in connection with its probe into the case linked to Jharkhand MLAs, who were recently caught with cash in Kolkata.
In a tweet, the CID said, “In course of investigation of PanchlaPS Case No 276/22 a team of CID which had gone to Delhi to execute a search warrant issued by Ld Court has been stopped from doing their lawful duty on the direction of @dcp_southwest. Personal intervention of @CPDelhi is requested.”
The Delhi Police have so far not reacted to the claims made by West Bengal CID.
Three Jharkhand MLAs of the Congress, who were arrested by the state police after they were caught with huge amounts of cash in West Bengal’s Howrah district. Later, the CID took over the case.
It is to be noted here that a similar case of confrontation had taken place between police forces of Punjab and Delhi, when the former had come to arrest Delhi BJP leader Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga in April this year. The Punjab Police failed to take Bagga with them, as the Delhi Police claimed that their Punbab counterpart did not have an arrest warrant.
