Jewellery shop robbed in Zirakpur
Two bike-borne youths barged into a jewellery shop in broad daylight in the Lohgarh area today and made away with ornaments worth lakhs of rupees.
Sam Soni, owner of Divya Jeweller, alleged that at around 2:30pm, two masked robbers entered the shop and pointed pistol at him. They took away a jewellery box lying in the shop, which contained gold and silver jewellery worth lakhs. When the robbers were searching the shop, the owner pushed one of the robbers and ran out and raised an alarm. Panicked, the robbers fled the spot.
People also pelted stones at the robbers, but they managed to escape and turned their bike towards the Chandigarh-Ambala National Highway.
According to the CCTV, one of the robbers was wearing a yellow bandana and the other was wearing a helmet. “Both of them parked the motorcycle at a distance from the shop. They entered the shop at 2.19 pm and committing the crime in four minutes. The police have also recovered bullet shells from the spot,” said Zirakpur SHO Jaskanwal Singh Shekhon.
SP (Rural) Manpreet Singh and Zirakpur DSP Jaspinder Singh said a case of robbery has been registered against two unidentified robbers and the search for the robbers has started on the basis of CCTV footage.
