Youth missing in Russia, brother appeals to PM for his return
A distressed and depressed Goraya youth Jagdeep Kumar, whose brother Mandeep Kumar is stuck in the Russian warzone, released an emotional video today in which he shared his fear related to his brother.
Jagdeep shared the video on social media, making an appeal to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to ensure the return of his brother with whom there had been no contact for the last seven months.
“My brother is one of the 16 men who are reportedly missing in Russia. We are losing hope,” he told The Tribune.
He claimed in his video that the body of Sunil Yadav, a man from UP who was also in Russia, reached his native village a few days ago. “Look at the situation, he must have gone there to earn for his family and his family could have never imagined that he would return in such a state. I request our government to actively do something in this matter so that no other family suffers,” he states in his video.
Jagdeep had met MP Balbir Singh Seechewal and raised the issue with him. “I told him that he had no contact with Mandeep for the last several months. It is getting difficult for us with each passing day,” he said.
Jagdeep was allegedly duped of Rs 6 lakh on the pretext of legally sending his brother from Armenia to Italy via Russia, Finland and Germany.
The police had lodged an FIR against eight travel agents in July and arrested one. A 45-year-old suspect arrested from Dasuya was not a registered travel agent. The police said he also used to introduce himself as a journalist with some news portal.
