Jalandhar: The Postgraduate Department of Computer Science and Information Technology, Lyallpur Khalsa College, organised an educational visit of BAJMC students to the Radio City office on World Radio Day. Principal Jaspal Singh exhorted the students to learn more about the industry requirements to reach the industrial benchmark and cope up with continuous changes. Head of Department Sanjeev Kumar Anand informed that the visit was organised to make the students aware about the requirements of the radio industry. The students visited the studio to get exposure of practical knowledge about Radio Jockeying. They enjoyed the various activities such as working of audio console, logging the programme, voice modulation and other insights of the radio station. Prof Himanshu accompanied the students during the visit.

All-India Folk Art Contests

Students of St Soldier Law College, under the supervision of S.C Sharma and college staff members, participated and won various prizes in the 38th All-India Folk Art Contests. This contest included folk songs, folk dance, poetry, fancy dress, skit, etc. All students participated enthusiastically in these contests. Prizes were won by Divya (fancy dress), Nimarjot Kaur (kavishri), Balraj Singh (folk song, gidda, bhangra, skit, and group folk song), etc. Anil Chopra (group chairman) and Sangeeta Chopra (vice-chairperson) congratulated the students.

Geography Quiz Competition

The PG Department of Geography, Lyallpur Khalsa College, in collaboration with the Association of Punjab Geographers, organised the North Zone Level Geography Quiz Competition. Principal Jaspal Singh was present as the chief guest, who honoured the winning teams with mementos and certificates. He exhorted the students to establish a relationship between theory and application of learned concepts. The objective of the quiz was to evaluate the participants’ knowledge within academics and beyond academics as well as promote scholastic excellence and competence through healthy and fair competition. A total of 10 colleges participated in the competition and DAV College, Jalandhar, won the first position, followed by Doaba College and SR Govt College for Women, Amritsar, at second and third positions, respectively. Dr Pooja Rana, Head of Department, thanked the principal and faculty members and congratulated the winning teams.

Mother Language Day

International Mother Language Day was celebrated at Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya (HMV) by the PG Department of Punjabi, under the able guidance of Principal Ajay Sareen. The principal addressed the audience and said that Punjabi is a language of our mind, heart and soul. She congratulated the department for organising the event. Head of Department Navroop made the students aware about their mother language. She told the students about various opportunities available in Punjabi language. Chief guest Pyara Singh Kudowal said that Punjabi is a very beautiful language. The students were motivated to use Punjabi language in their day-to-day work.

Sports Day at MGN Public School

Sports Day was organised with enthusiasm by students of Kindergarten Class on the premises of MGN Public School, Kapurthala. Principal Parwinder K Walia inaugurated the sports meet by hoisting the sports flag. The students of nursery, LKG and UKG enthralled the audience with their performance in hurdle race, car race, balloon race, bunny race, basket race, relay race, frog race, pyramid race, etc. Cultural programmes such as dance, music and bhangra were the main attractions of the event. Kapurthala Municipal Corporation Commissioner Anupam Kler graced the function as the chief guest and encouraged the children to participate in all school activities.
