The Punjab School Education Department has submitted a report to the Punjab Human Rights Commission, stating that the construction of the incomplete building of Nurmahal Senior Secondary School will begin soon.

The PHRC was hearing a complaint submitted by Nakodar social activist Aditya Bhatara, alias Mannu, and said in its order that the Director of School Education, Punjab, was directed to submit the status report one week before the next date of hearing that is March 3, 2025.

The construction of the new building of Government Senior Secondary School (co-education) has remained incomplete for the last eight years following the non-release of funds by the government.

The then Nakodar MLA Gurpartap Singh Wadala on December 14, 2016, laid the foundation for the construction of the new building.

New buildings became necessary as school faced a shortage of classrooms after the demolition of a building in 2012.
