Ward Defence panels meet
Phagwara SP Rupinder Kaur Bhatti along with DSP Bharat Bhushan held an urgent meeting of "Ward Defence Committees" at Phagwara on Tuesday. Bhatti said the police were active to nab anti-social elements but cops could only be successful in the mission only with the co-operation of peace living citizens only. She appealed to the citizens to come forward to inform about any criminal and identity of the informer would strictly be kept secret. SP Bhatti said the police were holding ward defence committees meetings ward wise.
Young man dies by suicide
Phagwara: A young man reportedly committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling fan in his rented house in the local Hargobind Nagar locality on Monday night. Deep stress could be the cause of suicide committed by the person identified as Jagjit Singh. The police have registered a case and sent the body to the local Civil Hospital for the post-mortem examination.
Minor girl abducted
Phagwara: On a complaint lodged by Uttar Pardesh migrant Chhote Lal, the police have registered a case against an unknown youth on the charges of abducting his 16-year-old daughter on the pretext of marriage. The complainant presently is residing at the nearby village Bhularai. The police said his daughter had been missing since November 11 when she went to the school but did not return. No arrest has been made till so far.
PG owners, tenants booked
Phagwara: After a thorough checking of four paying guest houses near Law Gate, Chiherru, the police have booked several tenants and PG owners on the charges of violating orders of the District Magistrate, Kapurthala. Phagwara SP Rupinder Kaur Bhatti said during checking, the police found that neither PG owners asked the tenants to submit identity cards, nor they submitted. Further investigations are on.
