He is alert, active and a great observer. Newly appointed Chief Administrator of the Jalandhar Development Authority Ankurjeet Singh is visually challenged, but the way he listens to every official letter, that is narrated to him by the department staff, speaks about his dedication towards his work.

Ankurjeet belongs to Yamunanagar, Haryana. He has the additional charge of the Amritsar Development Authority as well. Singh started developing visual issues since his childhood but it is progressive in nature. He says that initially he could read, write, do other works on his own, but slowly, the dependency on technology happened and he had to take help of a laptop, I-pad, etc.

Singh’s life and his incredible achievements despite challenges have been an inspiration for others.

Since his parents were also in the government job, Singh developed interest in administration work and cracked the UPSC exam in 2017.

Interestingly, Ankurjeet also had an interest in joining the Army. After completing Class XII, he also applied for NDA exams. “My paternal uncle was in the Army and got killed while serving the nation. I always had respect for the Army. But my father convinced me that even if I clear the written examination, it would be a challenge to clear the medical test,” he told The Tribune.

The Chief Administrator also has an inclination towards taking part in adventurous activities too such as rafting, cliff jumping, bungi jumping, etc. “I was in IIT-Roorkee, so along with me friends, we would go to Rishikesh to perform such activities,” Ankurjeet shared with a smile. He added that performing those activities made him feel empowered.

Talking about his other interests, he said he loves teaching and travelling as well. “I used to teach students from government school while I was studying in IIT. This is something that I had always enjoyed doing,” he told The Tribune.

On travelling, Ankurjeet shed light on his experiences and how due to his duty compulsions, he now enjoyed travel v-logs instead of actually going there. He said he used to travel earlier and loved to know and explore different cultures, people, traditions, food and the geography of every place.
