Vajra Corps sends expedition to Zanskar mountain ranges
A team of 10 intrepid mountaineers from Vajra Corps set out to scale the challenging peaks of Doropi Gangri (5380m) and Labar Peak (4654m) in the Zanskar mountain ranges of Himalayas in Ladakh region.
The mountain expedition, flagged off on Wednesday, aims to test the resilience, adaptability, physical and mental endurance of the participants. During their nine-day trek, the team will traverse 120 kilometres through harsh mountainous terrain, unpredictable weather and freezing temperatures. With strong winds and temperatures dropping to extreme low, the soldiers will only have their training and each other to rely upon. Beyond the mountaineering feat, the expedition will also serve as a platform for community outreach, interaction with veterans residing in remote areas as also to spread awareness on environmental conservation.
