The Police Commissionerate has arrested two persons involved in multiple snatching incidents across the city. The arrests came following an investigation into a spate of crimes that took place earlier this week.

According to police officials, the first incident occurred on September 24 near Bhimji Palace in Deep Nagar, where a woman’s gold chain was snatched. Following the registration of an FIR on September 25, the police launched an investigation.

During the inquiry, it was revealed that the same day, a gold chain belonging to a woman sub-inspector was also snatched.

Utilising a combination of human intelligence and scientific methods, police teams were able to identify the perpetrators as Rohit, a resident of Phagwara, and Mohammad Aftaab, also from Phagwara, who had been residing in Guru Harkrishan Nagar, Jalandhar.

The two accused were arrested and the police recovered two gold chains and a pair of gold earrings. Police officials confirmed that further investigation was underway with forward and backward linkages of the accused being looked into.
