Truck driver held for killing Chandigarh girl, youth

The Nakodar Sadar police have arrested a truck driver on the charge of killing a Chandigarh girl and a youth in an accident.

Investigating Officer (IO) Rajinderpal Singh said the accused has been identified as Sukhwinder Singh, a resident of Dholann village in Jagraon.

Dhian Singh a resident of Sector 56, Chandigarh, complained to the police that his nephew Akash (19) and his girlfriend Puja were going to Nakodar to pay obeisance at a Dera on September 9. He said when they reached Shankar village, the accused truck driver hit their two-wheeler killing Akash on the spot while Puja died in a Jalandhar hospital.

The IO said a case has been registered against the driver.
