Traffic police drive on, 12 challaned
To curb traffic violations, the Commissionerate Police continued its special drive targeting vehicles with illegal black films and hooters. The operation, aimed at improving road safety and ensuring compliance with traffic regulations, was conducted under the supervision of Harjinder Singh, ACP, Model Town.
The operation was carried out at key locations, including Manbrow Chowk and Model Town Market, on Thursday where nakas were laid to catch violators.
Officers in collaboration with the Emergency Response System team, were deployed for the operation. Their primary objective was to ensure smoother traffic flow and safer roads for residents of the city by taking strict action against those flouting traffic rules.
During the four-hour operation from 6pm to 10pm, 105 vehicles were checked. Of these, 12 vehicles were challaned for various violations. Eight vehicles were fined for the use of illegal black films, two for triple riding on two-wheelers and two for jumping red lights.
“The special drive is part of the Commissionerate Police commitment to enforce traffic laws and ensure the safety of all road users. By taking swift action, we aim to send a strong message about the importance of adhering to traffic regulations to maintain order and safety on the city’s roads”, said ACP Harjinder Singh.
