Three lives snuffed out in Hoshiarpur, two in Nawanshahr

Three persons were killed in road accidents in the district.

According to information, Gurwinder Singh of village Mona Kalan has lodged a complaint with the police that his father Sham Singh was returning home after supplying milk.

He told that when his father reached near Bassi Daulat Khan, a car passing by hit his father, leading to his death. After the incident, the driver fled. The police have registered a case against driver Harpreet Singh of Ludhiana.

In another case, Surjeet Singh of village Kandhala Jattan told the police that he was returning with his brother Jaspreet Singh. When they reached near Pandori, their scooter had a fault and his brother started repairing it. Suddenly, a bike rider hit his brother. He took his brother to the hospital where he died. The police have registered a case against the accused driver Harpreet Singh, a resident of Nariyala Muradpur.

On the other hand, Vikas Guleria, resident of village Chhanna Rai Eid Khan told the Mukerian police that his cousin Rajesh Kumar had gone to Bhangala on his bike to get fertiliser. Rajesh was crossing the road, when a vehicle hit his brother and he died. The police have registered a case against the accused driver Amrik Singh, a resident of Jammu.

An elderly man Ram Prasad Babu from Rahon, Nawanshahr, died after the cycle he was riding got hit by a vehicle. His son Abhishek Kumar, in his complaint to the police, said his father used to go to his office at 7 pm and he would return at 7am.

“Yesterday, he went to his work at 6.30 pm and at 6.40 pm, I received a call that someone had hit my father’s cycle and fled the spot. I reached the spot and found my father lying in a pool of blood unconscious. He was referred to the PGI, Chandigarh, where he was declared brought dead,” Kumar said.

He demanded strict action against the accused. A case under Section 106 (1) and 281 of the BNS Act was registered against the unidentified man.

In another case, a tipper hit a tractor trolley from behind, leading to the man sitting near on the tractor trolley falling on the road. As per information, the man died on the spot. The incident took place in Balachaur.
