Three KZF members arrested in Kathgrah grenade attack case
Three members of a Khalistan Zindabad Force (KZF) module have been arrested by Jalandhar Counter Intelligence police, along with SBS Nagar police, for a grenade attack on Asron police post, under the Kathgarh police station in Nawanshahr on December 2.
The trio has been identified as Yugpreet Singh (Yuvi), Jaskaran Singh and Harjot Singh, all residents of Nawanshahr.
The arrests were made during an intelligence-led operation by the Jalandhar Counter Intelligence in a joint operation with SBS Nagar Police. The accused are members of a KZF module controlled by handlers based in Germany, UK and other countries. They were tasked to target police establishments and minority leaders.
In a post shared on X, the DGP shared the information of the arrest while informing that the module had received a funding of Rs 4.5L over the last six months.
Preliminary investigation of the police revealed that the grenade was retrieved on November 28 from a Dead Letter Box (DLB) on the GT Road in Jalandhar and was thrown at Asron police post on December 2.
The police have also recovered a country-made pistol, revolver and six live cartridges from the trio.
Jalandhar AIG Counter Intelligence Navjot Mahal said, “The trio was being managed by handlers from abroad. Their possible plans of any future crimes are under investigation.”
Punjab has recently been rocked by a slew of attacks at police stations, including incidents at Amritsar (Majitha) and Nawanshahr (Kathgarh).
