Three Arrested in Kapurthala, firearms seized
The district police, headed by SSP Gaurav Toora, have arrested three persons and recovered illegal weapons, including country-made pistols and an air pistol.
SSP Toora told this correspondent on Friday that the operation was carried out under the supervision of Sarabjit Rai, SP (Investigation), and Parminder Singh, DSP (Detective), with Inspector Jarnail Singh, in charge of the CIA staff, leading the raid.
He said the arrested persons were identified as Navjot Singh, alias Mani, resident of Mushkveed village, Arjun Singh of village Mander Bet and Gurpreet Singh of village Lakhankalan.
The SSP said the Navjot was arrested with a history of five criminal cases involving violence and illegal firearms. Two .32-bore pistols and an air pistol were recovered on his disclosure. He said the second accused Arjun was nabbed with a countrymade pistol and Gurpreet was also apprehended with pistol.
The SSP said the police recovered three .32 bore countrymade pistols and three cartridges, one .315 bore countrymade pistol and one air pistol.
A case under Sections 111 and 112 of the BNS and Section 25 of the Arms Act has been registered at the City Police Station, Kapurthala.
