The DTF said that it is elections where maximum muscle power is used and there are chances of a tiff taking place. Partap Singh Thathgarh, district president of DTF, said that the organisation, in a memorandum submitted to the district authorities, presented certain demands for consideration. Partap Singh Thathgarh said that the DTF has stressed on leniency towards women teachers in assigning election duty. He said that widows, women infected with chronic diseases, mothers who have little kids and pregnant women should not be given any assignment. The DTF has also stressed on deputing women staff at polling stations that are near their residence and arranging for counting of votes at the block level. After the election material is deposited, arrangements should be made to drop the women staff home. The DTF said that sometimes due to local level conflicts, the demand for recounting is repeatedly raised, just to harass the polling staff and there must be some strict rules in this regard. DTF leaders said that these issues should be implemented not only in the district but at the state level also to ensure free and fair panchayat elections.
