Tanzanian woman nabbed with heroin
In a major breakthrough against the international drug trafficking network, the Jalandhar Rural Police have arrested a Tanzanian national and recovered 184 gm of heroin during a special operation in Adampur on Thursday.
The accused has been identified as Padiva Nimte Bhayal Labh Khairaty Fabian Semwija, daughter of Rocky Fabian, a resident of Kaliko Police Station Muchinga, Tanzania. She was currently residing in Tughlakabad Extension, Delhi.
Speaking to the media, SSP Harkamal Preet Singh Khakh said the operation was part of an ongoing drive against drug trafficking in the district. “Our teams are working round the clock to identify and dismantle drug trafficking networks operating in the region,” he said.
During routine patrolling near Chuharwali in Adampur, the police team spotted a woman behaving suspiciously. Upon noticing the police presence, she attempted to discard a packet into nearby grassland, which was promptly recovered by women police personnel accompanying the team.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the accused had entered India barely a month ago, suggesting possible links to an international drug trafficking network. The police have seized her mobile phone and are analyzing call details to trace her connections.
The accused will be produced in a court where the police will seek her remand to investigate the links of the drug supply chain.
