With MC elections due in about a week’s time, a shocking dog bite incident has raised questions over the safety of citizens in Jalandhar.
In a shocking incident enough to send shivers down the spine of most persons, a woman was brutally attacked by a pack of street dogs in a posh locality in Jalandhar. The 65-year-old woman was walking through a locality alone, after returning from a gurdwara, when a pack of dogs gathered around her and attacked her so ferociously that she fell on the ground. She was then dragged along the street by the dogs even as her heart-rending shrieks and cries for help rent the area.
The incident took place in broad daylight in DD Enclave Phase II, near the Satguru Kabir Chowk. Two men of the locality, alarmed by the shouts, rushed to her rescue after which the dogs dispersed.
The woman, who was attacked by eight dogs, has received 25 dog bite injuries including a serious injury on her head. The woman is currently admitted to the Civil Hospital, Jalandhar. A CCTV footage of the incident has gone viral raising questions over the security of residents amidst increasing dig bite cases, in the poshest of localities.
As per the information received, a youth in the colony, basking in the warm winter sun at his house, saw the woman being attacked from a distance, after which he rushed to her rescue. Two other men also joined him and together took the heavily injured and profusely bleeding woman to her house.
The woman was reportedly taken to a private hospital first, but was referred to the Civil Hospital due to the injuries being a case of dog bite.
