The Jalandhar Rural Police have achieved a significant breakthrough by arresting six members of a robbery gang operating in the Phillaur area. The operation led to the recovery of two motorcycles, four mobile phones, 93 drug pills, lethal weapons and ₹1,450 drug money.

The arrested accused have been identified as Chetan, resident of Bakhlor, Sunny, resident of Mukandpur, Sukhjit Singh, resident of Mallomjara, Manpeet Kumar, resident of Mallomjara, all of district Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar; Hira, resident of New Market, and Chetan Sharma, resident of New Market, Goraya, Jalandhar.

Speaking to the media, SSP Harkamal Preet Singh Khakh stated the operation was conducted under the supervision of the SP, Investigation, Jasroop Kaur Bath and DSP Sarwan Singh Bal of Phillaur and led by Inspector Sanjeev Kapur, Station House Officer, Phillaur Police Station. The police team, which included Sub-Inspector Nirmal Singh, in-charge of chowki Appra, carried out intensive checking operations in the region, leading to the arrest of the accused.

During the preliminary investigation, it was revealed that the gang operated primarily at night, targeting mobile phones and motorcycles to support their drug addiction. They also sold stolen items at low prices to unsuspecting buyers. The accused have a history of criminal activities, with previous cases registered under the NDPS Act, confirming their involvement in drug-related offenses.

An FIR has been registered at Phillaur Police Station.

The arrested individuals will be presented in the local court and police remand sought to further investigate their forward and backward links, including their supply and distribution network.

“Street crime will not be tolerated under any circumstances. The police will continue to act decisively against criminal elements to protect the community,” warned SSP Khakh.
